indietracks 2012

Truly the most fantastic and impossibly polite festival I have ever been to, Indietracks takes place at the ridiculously cute Midland Railway Centre, with bands playing on the steam trains and in a charming tin tabernacle church. We all had so much fun twirling about to ukuleles in our charity shop chic finest, making superhero costumes and eating the most amazing buritos I have ever tasted. I honestly wish I could live off them.

The sun even shone most of the time, to our great surprise and our new super-sized family tent was a great success (though not nearly as pretty as our old teepee), which bodes well for our week camping in Cornwall in August. Hurrah for the summer!

If you love a bit of twee and would like to support the railway centre, you can download the compilation of 2012's line-up for a donation here. You won't be disappointed.

PS our bottoms even made it onto one of the festival reviews- haha! The fame!

glorious at last

Hope you are all enjoying the wonderful sunshine- just in time for the school holidays. We certainly are.

We're off to the beach on Friday, but I've got a horrible feeling the rain may be back by then. Fingers crossed I'm wrong!

dippy eggs on drippy days

It's July. Yes honestly. I have this week off work and when I booked it, I had lovely visions of doing the allotment in a bikini top and picnicing with Pearl in poppy fields. Instead I am doing the school run in wellies and trying to find enough indoor things to keep Pearl amused. Flora has gone on her first residential school trip to an outward bound centre- I didn't bother packing her sun cream.

Not having to hare about like a lunatic in the mornings is a real luxury. Pearl couldn't believe her luck this morning when I made her favourite boiled eggs for breakfast. A feast fit for a princess!

who the wild things are

I really enjoyed this radio 4 exploration of the late genius Maurice Sendak's Where The Wild Things Are, including (albeit rather miserable) words from the man himself. Pop over and have a listen before it disappears off the iPlayer. Enjoy! x

rain rain go away...

don't you know my adorable new Saltwater sandals have finally arrived from across the pond and I can't wait to wear them? Humph.

You can guarantee that if I'd bought some lovely wellies, there would have been a drought for months. Typical.

indoor camping

Well this half term's been a wash-out, hasn't it. We attempted to go camping, only to pack up at midnight on the first night due to the dreadful wind, rain and overall chilliness- wimps, I know. We did still mange to cook some sausages and toast marshmallows over the fire before we left though, so it wasn't all bad. Today the girls have been making a camp of their own to compensate- this time in the warmth of our lounge...

ps I don't normally dress them in matching clothes- we went shopping and they were allowed to chose a new dress each as a treat. Typically they both insisted on having the same one! (but they do look kinda cute....)

moonlighting...

Whilst I've been terribly neglecting my own blog lately, you can catch a little snippet of some crafty loveliness on my guest post today over on my favourite blog of all- Lou's Littlegreendshed.

Happy reading x
